McKinney, TX Chili Teams will stir it up on Friday November 20 at TUPPS Brewery at the Cotton Mill in McKinney for the First Annual Hot Tech Chili Cook-Off benefitting The WERX Foundation and The Love Life Foundation. The family friendly event will include TUPPS’ award winning beer, The Maylee Thomas Band, bounce houses for the kids and an Innovation Station for kids of all ages to vie for prizes for the most innovative creations. Doors will open at 6:00 and chili tasting begins at 6:30 p.m.. Adults receive a 12 ounce pilsner glass,aTUPPS beer and all the chili they can taste for a $20 entrance fee, children receive a water or soft drink and all the chili they can taste for a $5 entrance fee.
The chili competition is limited to 15 teams and only a few spots are still available so serious competitors should sign up now! Prizes will be awarded for the People’s Choice chili (voted on by the public) and Best All Around chili (judged by local dignitaries). Each team will receive 10 pounds of chili meat to use in their chili and will be expected to deliver 10 quarts of chili for judging and tasting. The entry fee for the contest is $50 and teams will receive three t-shirts, three beer glasses, three free TUPPS beers, chili tasting and the opportunity to win a unique trophy and prizes from KitchenWares on the Square. Not to mention bragging rights as the winner of the First Annual Hot Tech Chili Cook-Off!
The First Annual Hot Tech Chili Cook-Off benefits The WERX Foundation, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization that has the mission to build, grow and support small business in McKinney by providing start-ups with a dedicated collaborative work space, resources and educational programs, as well as fostering entrepreneurism in the community.
“We recently received our 501c3 designation and wanted to celebrate with a family friendly fundraising event with lots of music, technology and collaborative fun!” said Christine Smith, Executive Director of The WERX. “We’re excited to have so many teams signed up already and if their names are any indication, the chili should be exciting to taste!”
In keeping with that family friendly focus, The WERX chose The Love Life Foundation to partner with on the event. The mission of The Love Life Foundation is to expose the plight of at-risk children in our community and break the cycle of child abuse.
